Forgiveness Protects Covenant
By Dr. Hesed Ojieh
Forgiveness is not the denial of harm. It is the refusal to let harm govern the future.
Every enduring relationship accumulates offence. The question is never whether harm occurs, but what is done with it.
Forgiveness protects covenant. It is not the denial of what happened, the excusing of what was wrong, or the removal of consequences. It is the decision to stop paying interest on a debt that cannot be repaid by resentment.
Honor sustains what love begins. Where forgiveness releases the past, honor governs the present — the daily, unglamorous decision to treat another person as valuable when feelings are neutral.
